Availability and Preparation

Stock and Availability

  • All wines offered on wineuponatime.com (WUAT) are physically held in stock in our cellars in Switzerland.
  • We do not sell “catalogue wines,” “sourcing wines,” or wines “awaiting replenishment.”
  • Quantities are often limited, as these are old vintages and rare bottles.
  • To ensure the accuracy of our inventory, a slight delay may occur between a sale and the website update.

Preparation and Quality Assurance

  • Orders are generally dispatched within 1 to 5 business days following receipt of payment.
  • To preserve the wine's quality, we may, with your consent, defer shipment in the event of unfavorable weather conditions (severe heat or frost).
  • Bottles are packed in homologated packaging adapted for wine transport and carefully protected.

🌍 International Shipping and Delivery

General Information

  • For shipments outside Switzerland, we use Swiss Post International, FedEx International, MBE, or Colissimo, depending on the destination country.
  • Insurance Coverage: Coverage limits and damage claim conditions vary by carrier and country.
  • Before shipping high-value bottles, we recommend contacting us to validate the most adequate insurance option.
  • WUAT cannot be held responsible for insufficient compensation when the coverage chosen by the buyer is not adapted to the value of the products shipped.

Shipping Costs

  • Shipping costs include: packaging materials, order preparation, transport, and insurance.
  • They are calculated automatically based on the total package weight and destination. Costs are charged at "cost price" or below the actual cost price.
  • We recommend grouping your purchases into a single order. Two distinct orders cannot be automatically grouped.

🇺🇸 USA - Delivery Duty Paid (DDP)

  • Shipments to the United States include all fees, customs duties, and import taxes related to the importation. Insurance is included and integrated into the shipping costs.
  • Delivery: The American customer will have nothing to pay upon receipt (Duties and Taxes included).
  • Additional charges may apply for delivery areas considered "remote" by your local carrier.
  • Non-Serviceable States: We are unable to deliver to the following states: Delaware, Kentucky, New Hampshire, Virginia, West Virginia, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Utah, Alaska, and Hawaii.

🇪🇺 European Union (EU)

We offer two options for the European Union:

Option Shipment Estimated Delivery Time Taxes
Standard (Fast) Directly from Switzerland 1 to 10 business days DDU: VAT and Excise Duties due upon arrival (to be paid by the buyer).
Economy (Slow) From France (after redirection) Up to 90 days DDP: VAT, Excise Duties, and fees are included in the transport cost. No extra charges upon delivery.

For the Economy (DDP) option, the long delivery time is due to logistics consolidation and centralized customs clearance in France. This option guarantees no surprise fees upon delivery.

🛑 Customs Fees, Taxes, VAT & Local Regulations (International ex-USA, ex-EU DDP)

For all deliveries to the UK, EU (Standard option), Japan, Hong Kong, and other countries (excluding USA and EU-DDP):

  • Fees are the buyer's responsibility: Customs duties, local VAT, import taxes, brokerage fees, and administrative formalities are entirely the buyer's responsibility and **must be paid upon receipt of the order.**
  • These fees are independent of WINEUPONATIME. They cannot, under any circumstances, justify a return, cancellation, or refund.
  • It is the buyer's responsibility to inquire about the import rules of their country before purchase. WUAT can assist with cost estimation upon request.
  • We cannot be held responsible for customs blocks, delays, or additional costs applied by local authorities.
