Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Rosé 1998 - The Supreme Tribute to the Widow

A Legendary Cuvée: La Grande Dame Rosé is not only the pinnacle of the Veuve Clicquot range, it is a wine that embodies the pursuit of perfection. From the 1998 vintage, this cuvée is the result of a rigorous selection process from the House's eight historic Grands Crus, where the terroir expresses itself with the greatest intensity.

The 1998 Vintage: Controlled Power

The year 1998 offered ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, the backbone of Clicquot's DNA. This vintage is distinguished by its aromatic richness and its ability to evolve towards exquisitely refined tertiary notes. After more than 25 years, La Grande Dame 1998 reveals a perfect harmony between its original freshness and a complexity acquired over decades in the quiet of the cellars.

The Secret of Clos Colin

What makes La Grande Dame Rosé unique is its blend. The salmon hue and full-bodied structure of the wine come from the addition of still red wine from Clos Colin in Bouzy. This legendary Pinot Noir plot brings a silky tannic structure and a depth of red fruit that is not found in any other cuvée from the house.

Tasting Profile: A Sensory Journey

  • Appearance: A deep, sparkling copper color with orange highlights and an absolutely discreet bubble.
  • Nose: A bouquet of rare complexity. It reveals notes of dried red fruits, candied citrus, toasted brioche, evolving towards hints of fine leather, blond tobacco and oriental spices.
  • Palate: An incredibly velvety texture. The wine is vinous, full-bodied, carried by a saline and persistent finish reminiscent of the chalky soils of Grand Cru vineyards.

Provenance and Preservation

This exceptional bottle comes directly from a prestigious cellar in Épernay. Stored away from all light and temperature fluctuations, its condition is considered "perfect." The fill level is impeccable, the capsule is intact, and the label has retained all its prestige. It is a collector's item for connoisseurs of contemplative Champagnes.

Food and wine pairing

We recommend serving it in wide wine glasses to allow its complexity to fully develop. A magnificent companion to lobster thermidor or veal with truffles.
