Presentation of the Masi estate

The Masi estate is a Valpolicella institution, renowned for having brought Amarone to the international stage. The Boscaini family has been perpetuating ancestral expertise for several generations, combining Venetian tradition with oenological innovation. The "Campolongo di Torbe" vintage is one of the most prestigious terroirs in the region.

Presentation of the vintage and the appellation

This wine comes from the single vineyard of Campolongo di Torbe, renowned for producing some of the most complex and distinguished Amarone. At the time of this vintage, the cuvée still bore the full appellation "Recioto della Valpolicella Amarone," emphasizing its origins in the sweet style of Recioto, although vinified dry. Amarone is produced using a raisining (appassimento) technique, where the grapes are dried for several weeks before vinification, thus concentrating the sugars and aromas.

Presentation of the 1988 vintage

The 1988 vintage in Veneto benefited from ideal climatic conditions for producing an Amarone for aging. The grapes reached a beautiful maturity, giving rise to powerful, expressive, and long-lived wines.

Condition of the bottle

Perfect level, label and capsule in excellent condition. Optimal conservation.

Tasting notes

Deep garnet color. Complex nose blending dried fruits, fig, prune, tobacco, leather, and black truffle. On the palate, power and creaminess are balanced by melted tannins. Lingering finish, marked by notes of cocoa and sweet spices. A classic Amarone at its peak.
