Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Rosé 2010 - The "Zero Flaw" Rosé
The 2010 Vintage: The Belle Époque Exception Rosé
2010 was a unique vintage in Champagne. A perfect winter was followed by a warm spring and summer. However, heavy rainfall in August and during the harvest compromised the quality of the grapes. Maison Perrier-Jouët undertook an extremely rigorous selection process and dedicated the very best of the harvest to the Belle Epoque Rosé cuvée, a wine whose style was enhanced by these exceptional conditions.
The marriage of Chardonnay (for the delicate texture) and Pinot Noir (for the tangy red fruit) achieves a masterful balance here.
In fact, it is the only vintage wine produced by the house in 2010. Characterized by remarkable vinosity, it is a particularly rare vintage.
Your Expert Eye: Stop the "Taste of Light"!
Have you ever tasted a champagne with rancid, cabbage, or wet cardboard notes? That's the infamous "light-struck" taste caused by exposing clear bottles to shop lights or natural light. At WUAT, we're uncompromising: a Belle Époque whose color has turned dark or a suspicious orange is a "dead" bottle. This 2010 vintage boasts a vibrant salmon-pink hue, a sign of a lively, healthy, and aromatically pure wine.
If you see a clear bottle with a dark color: Run away!
Tasting Notes: The Freshness of the Fruit
- Dress: Light, luminous, with very discreet orange highlights.
- Nose: A spring bouquet of peony and rose, followed by notes of redcurrant and wild strawberry.
- Palate: A clean, mineral attack. The bubbles are fine, the finish is long with notes of pink grapefruit and a hint of light brioche.
