A family-run estate based in Morey-Saint-Denis, the Ligner-Michelot estate cultivates 12 hectares of vines across some thirty appellations in the Côte de Nuits region. The estate produces an average of 30,000 bottles annually.
About the cuvée: Old vines over 60 years old planted in the north of the appellation. Only 6,000 bottles are produced per year. Vinification is carried out using whole bunches for approximately 75% of the harvest. The remaining stems help to structure the wine and diversify the style of tannins. This is followed by aging for an average of 13 months in 30% new barrels.
Tasting Advice: At WUAT, we don't usually enjoy Burgundies this young. The 2019 vintage was a huge success, so you can easily leave this bottle in the cellar for more than ten years. If you want to enjoy it before then, it will require at least an hour of decanting.
