Presentation of the House
Piper-Heidsieck is a Champagne house founded in 1785 in Reims by Florens-Louis Heidsieck. It is now part of the EPI (Européenne de Participations Industrielles) group and is headed by Émilien Boutillat, cellar master since 2018. Piper-Heidsieck is renowned for its powerful style, precision, and the elegance of its vintages, which are regularly praised by international critics.
Presentation of the vintage and the appellation
The Brut Sauvage cuvée was a special edition launched by Piper-Heidsieck in the early 1980s. Produced as a brut nature, it contained no dosage, highlighting the purity and freshness of the wine. This non-vintage Champagne is made from a blend of predominantly Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, likely aged in stainless steel vats with a long aging on lees. This bottle is an absolute rarity, a testament to a time when “non-dosé” champagnes were still exceptional.
Tasting notes are not available, but the experience promises tension, complexity and a beautiful aromatic evolution.
This vintage was produced in 1982 and is available on the market at disconcerting prices.
