Presentation of the Charles Heidsieck House

Founded in 1851 by Charles-Camille Heidsieck, Maison Charles Heidsieck, based in Reims, is world-renowned for the exceptional quality and elegance of its Champagnes. Nicknamed "Champagne Charlie," the founder was a pioneer in exporting. While the House is famous for its sparkling wines, it also produces, in very small quantities, still wines that demonstrate its commitment to the terroir.

Characteristics of the Cuvée Bouzy Rouge

Bouzy Rouge is a rare appellation of "Vin Tranquille Rouge" produced in the village of Bouzy, classified as a Grand Cru in Champagne.

  • Appellation: Coteaux Champenois (AOC). The village of Bouzy is famous for its Pinot Noir terroir, which is the basis of this still red wine.
  • Typology: This wine is made from Pinot Noir. Coteaux Champenois Bouzy Rouge is prized by connoisseurs for its finesse and subtle notes, unlike powerful reds.
  • Technical Characteristics: This type of wine is produced in small volumes because the majority of Bouzy Pinot Noir is dedicated to blending Champagnes, including rosé. This is a bottle that has been preserved with particular care.

Analysis of the Production Period (Circa 1970)

This bottle is estimated to be from the 1970s. The label style, bottle shape, and condition of the oxidized and worn capsule confirm this decade. Red Coteaux Champenois wines from this era are rarities as they were not widely distributed. They are sought after for their historical value and their potential to have developed unique tertiary aromas.
