Chateau Climens 1947 - Haut-Barsac

History of the House

Château Climens, nicknamed the "Lord of Barsac", is a Premier Cru Classé from 1855 located in the Barsac appellation, in the heart of Sauternes. With a 30-hectare vineyard cultivated with a single grape variety (Sémillon), Climens is famous for its sweet wines of remarkable purity. The terroir, composed of clay-limestone soils, gives the wines an incomparable minerality and freshness. For centuries, Climens has established itself as one of the greatest names in sweet wines, offering sublime and timeless vintages.

Presentation of the 1947 Vintage

The 1947 vintage is one of the most legendary of the 20th century. Marked by a very hot summer, it produced rich and opulent wines, with levels of concentration rarely equaled. Château Climens 1947 perfectly embodies this golden age: an intense amber color, evolved aromas of candied fruits, caramel, saffron and nuts, combined with a perfectly balanced acidity, guaranteeing incredible longevity. Today, this wine is a collector's item, capable of transporting the taster to another era.
