Presentation of the Château La Fleur-Pétrus estate

Château La Fleur-Pétrus is located on the famous Pomerol plateau, between the legendary Petrus and La Fleur estates. The property was acquired in 1953 by Jean-Pierre Moueix and is now managed by Christian Moueix. The vineyard covers approximately 18 hectares, planted on gravel, deep clay, and sandy soils. The property's name reflects its geographical location: between Château La Fleur and Château Pétrus. The estate's style combines depth, elegance, and finesse, with exceptional consistency.

Presentation of the vintage and the appellation

  • Appellation: Pomerol, located on the right bank of Bordeaux, renowned for its powerful and velvety red wines.
  • Area of the appellation: approximately 800 ha.
  • Soils: clays rich in iron dross (red marl), gravel and sand.
  • Blend: Mainly Merlot, with a small proportion of Cabernet Franc and sometimes Cabernet Sauvignon.
  • Aging: approximately 18 to 20 months in French oak barrels (partially new).

Tasting Notes (Robert Parker): 96/100 – “One of the greatest La Fleur-Pétrus, rich, complex, with aromas of black plum, truffle, leather and undergrowth. Sumptuous texture and lingering finish.”
