Presentation of Château Talbot
Located in the heart of the Saint-Julien appellation, Château Talbot is one of the most emblematic estates in the Médoc. A Fourth Growth in 1855, it is named after the famous Constable Talbot, a hero of the Hundred Years' War. The estate is renowned for its exemplary consistency and a style that successfully reconciles the power of Médoc structure with an elegance and accessibility that makes it popular with enthusiasts worldwide.
Presentation of the 2009 vintage
The 2009 vintage is considered one of the "vintages of the century" in Bordeaux. Thanks to a hot summer and a dry autumn, the grapes achieved exceptional phenolic maturity. At Talbot, 2009 results in a fleshy wine, with impressive aromatic richness and a very smooth tannic structure, typical of perfectly managed sunny years.
The Saint-Julien Consistency
This bottle attests to the estate's constant expertise. Whether the year is complex or exceptional like this 2009, Talbot always delivers a balanced, honest wine true to its roots. This reliability makes it one of the most reassuring and sought-after labels for building a prestigious cellar.
Bottle condition
This 2009 bottle is in superb condition. The label is very beautiful, with a few cellar marks. The gold capsule is intact and the level is ideal (high shoulder), indicating rigorous storage away from all light and thermal variations.
Tasting notes
The nose is intense and inviting, with notes of very ripe black fruits (cherry, blackcurrant), underscored by hints of licorice, Havana, and a noble, very well-integrated oak. On the palate, the wine is full, generous, and boasts a magnificent velvety texture. The tannic structure is present but silky, leading to a long and fresh finish, characteristic of great gravel terroirs.
Food and wine pairings
- Duck breast with cranberries
- Roasted lamb shoulder with Médoc herbs
- Tournedos Rossini
- Characterful cheeses like a well-aged Brie de Meaux
