Presentation of the Marchand Frères estate

Located in Gevrey-Chambertin, Domaine Marchand Frères dates back to 1813 and remains a family-owned landmark in the Côte de Nuits region. With a philosophy centered on respect for the terroir and traditional winemaking, the estate has built a reputation for its expressive, precise, and age-worthy Grands Crus.

Presentation of the vintage and the appellation

Clos de la Roche is one of the most prestigious Grands Crus of Morey-Saint-Denis, renowned for the power and elegance of its wines. The Pinot Noir develops great aromatic depth, with a structure suitable for aging. The 2007 from Domaine Marchand Frères embodies this style, combining finesse, minerality, and intensity.

Presentation of the vintage

The 2007 vintage of red Burgundy offers accessible, elegant, and already expressive wines. Less powerful than 2005 or 2009, it highlights freshness and balance, with a charming profile and excellent drinkability today.

Bottle condition

Perfect level; clear and bright color; capsule in good condition; label stained and aged but still legible. Bottle generally well preserved.

Food and wine pairings

Perfect with roast pigeon and reduced jus

Superb with beef fillet with morels

Ideal with a platter of mature cheeses (Époisses)

WUAT Note

A Grand Cru from Morey-Saint-Denis, ready to be enjoyed. Despite a label marked by age, the bottle is in excellent condition. A vintage with an accessible and charming profile. A rare opportunity to discover a Clos de la Roche at a reasonable price.

Presentation of the vintage:

As is often the case in Burgundy, Le Clos de la Roche takes its name from its highly calcareous terroir. The soil consists of only 30 centimeters of soil, few pebbles, and large boulders.

With 17 hectares (16.89 to be exact) for an annual production of around 84,000 bottles, it is the largest clos in Morey-Saint-Denis.

Despite its size, it is considered one of the best climates in Morey-Saint-Denis and produces fleshy, structured wines with cherry and truffle characters.
