Presentation of the Rémi Jeanniard estate
Rémi Jeanniard settled in Morey-Saint-Denis in 2004, taking over part of the family vineyards. A discreet and passionate winemaker, he works with finesse on prestigious plots, with a low-intervention vinification that allows the purity of the Pinot Noir to express itself. His production is confidential and highly sought-after.
Presentation of the vintage and the appellation
Clos de la Roche is one of the jewels of Morey-Saint-Denis, renowned for its robust yet elegant wines with exceptional aging potential. At Rémi Jeanniard, this Grand Cru, produced in quantities of only 400 bottles per year, expresses itself with a rare aromatic intensity: ripe black fruits, violet, stony notes and a mineral structure that balances the richness of the 2009 vintage.
Presentation of the vintage
2009 was a sunny and generous year in Burgundy. The Grands Crus produced rich, concentrated, and charming wines, combining vibrant fruit maturity with supple tannins. A vintage that was already very enjoyable, but still capable of aging gracefully.
Tasting notes (forums & enthusiasts)
Dark and bright color, garnet highlights. - Rich nose of black cherry, blackberry, violet, hints of liquorice and mineral. - Full, silky, very fruity palate, with remarkable depth and length. - Fresh finish despite the power, marked by tannins still present but civilized. 👉 A Clos de la Roche that seduces with its density and fruity brilliance, without heaviness.
Bottle condition
Perfect level; clear and bright color; impeccable capsule; label with some traces and marks of time. Very good overall condition.
Food and wine pairings
Perfect with a roast pigeon with mild spices – Excellent on a tournedos Rossini – Refined with a mature Brie de Meaux
WUAT Note
A Grand Cru crafted by artisans, where Rémi Jeanniard's sensitive touch meets the generosity of 2009. Accessible today with vibrant fruit, it will continue to evolve towards more tertiary nuances. A bottle that will appeal to both lovers of gourmet Burgundy and discerning collectors.
Presentation of the vintage:
As is often the case in Burgundy, Le Clos de la Roche takes its name from its highly calcareous terroir. The soil consists of only 30 centimeters of soil, few pebbles, and large boulders.
With 17 hectares (16.89 to be exact) for an annual production of around 84,000 bottles, it is the largest clos in Morey-Saint-Denis.
Despite its size, it is considered one of the best climates in Morey-Saint-Denis and produces fleshy, structured wines with cherry and truffle characters.
