Introducing the Estate: Maison Georges Vasseur
Maison Georges Vasseur follows the tradition of Burgundy négociant houses from the second half of the 20th century. By selecting lots from local winegrowers to age and bottle under its own label, Georges Vasseur made the great climats of the Côte de Nuits available through a network of enthusiasts seeking value for money. Eschewing the speculation associated with the great owner-operated estates, these négociant cuvées are now accessible bottles of history that reveal the mature expression of a great terroir.
Introducing the Appellation: Échezeaux Grand Cru
Located in the commune of Flagey-Échezeaux, between the Clos de Vougeot and the Premier Crus of Vosne-Romanée, Échezeaux is one of Burgundy's most famous Grand Crus. Resting on a highly diverse limestone base, this exceptional terroir produces Pinot Noirs renowned for their velvety texture, aromatic elegance, and complex bouquet, which develops over time with notes of forest floor, sweet spices, leather, and dried black fruits.
Introducing the 1991 Vintage
The 1991 vintage in Burgundy was marked by capricious weather and a cool spring, resulting in a more modest harvest that was sometimes austere in its youth. Although it lacks the opulence of the greatest sunny vintages, 1991 remains an interesting year for lovers of wines that have mellowed and softened with age. After more than three decades, it offers a refined tertiary expression, to be appreciated for its historical value and maturity.

Food & Wine Pairings and Serving Suggestions
Serving suggestions: Ideally serve between 15°C and 16°C. Due to the age of the bottle, it is strongly recommended to open it 30 minutes before tasting without decanting to preserve its aromatic finesse.
Culinary pairings: This mature Grand Cru pairs simply with roast poultry, pan-seared duck breast, sautéed wild mushrooms, or a platter of aged soft cheeses.
Personal Note and Unique Features of the Cuvée
"Treating yourself to an Échezeaux Grand Cru is often reserved for considerable budgets. This 1991 vintage bottle by Georges Vasseur offers a different approach: above all, it is a bottle chosen for its appeal, a symbolic marker of time. Despite a demanding vintage and a slightly worn label, the good level in the bottle makes it an excellent opportunity to give a memorable birthday gift or mark an important celebration at a very attractive price."
