Presentation of the house
The Gosset house was founded in 1584 in Aÿ, making it the oldest Champagne wine house, although it only produced champagne from the 18th century. Now owned by the Renaud-Cointreau group, it is distinguished by its vinous champagnes, without malolactic fermentation.
Presentation of the vintage and the appellation
Gosset's Grand Millésime cuvée is produced only in very good years. The 1999 blends primarily Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Aged on lees for several years, without malolactic fermentation, it offers great freshness, aromas of dried fruit, brioche, and a beautiful tension. The cuvée is often praised for its finesse and gastronomic potential. Rated 17.5/20 by Jancis Robinson and 92/100 by Wine Enthusiast.
Presentation of the vintage
The 1999 vintage was marked by a hot summer followed by occasional rain. The harvest was early. The champagnes display beautiful maturity, developed aromas, fine bubbles, and a respectable aging capacity, although inferior to the very best vintages.
