Hermitage La Chapelle 1979 - Paul Jaboulet Ainé
Hermitage La Chapelle is a classic wine among wine lovers. "A hill and a legendary history have built, over the centuries, the legendary reputation of this great vintage."
The history of this hill is quite interesting. But to summarize, a knight, in the 13th century, decided to isolate himself from the world and settled at the top of this hill. He was gradually joined by others who decided to plant vines there. The Hermitage actually owes its name to the hermit; the vineyard already existed in Antiquity with the wines of Vienne.
The wines have exceptional aging potential, up to 40 years and more! The vintage is produced from very old Syrah vines on stakes.
The 1979 vintage is one of the estate's finest achievements. While it falls short of the legendary 1978 vintage, it remains a magnificent wine.
Richer than it appears, it is just beginning to offer aromas of liquid tar, blackcurrant, plum, cedar and smoke. (RP 1996)
Exceptional provenance: These bottles come from the cellar of a great Swiss wine enthusiast and collector. We acquired the complete collection containing more than 200 bottles of mainly French and Italian wines. The bottles were all preserved following their purchase en primeur or shortly after their marketing on site, in a natural cellar buried under a 16th-century convent. A humid cellar, which is why some labels are very worn. The levels are generally excellent or perfect, and the most "fragile" bottles testify to conservation in total darkness for more than 30 years!
WUAT Note: We're offering this bottle at the best price worldwide (because it's fun), and it's likely to go fast.
