Richebourg Grand Cru 1993 - Domaine Gros Frère et Sœur
Presentation of the domain:
The Gros Frère et Soeur estate, located in Vosne-Romanée, is one of the most prestigious in the Côte de Nuits region. Founded in 1960, it covers an area of 20 hectares spread across several appellations, including the famous Clos Vougeot, Richebourg, Echezeaux, and Grands-Echezeaux. The estate's vines are cultivated organically, and the winemaking process is traditional, respectful of the terroir and the grapes.
Presentation of the vintage:
The Richebourg cuvée is one of the jewels of the Gros Frère et Soeur estate, from the renowned Richebourg vineyard in Vosne-Romanée. This cuvée is renowned for its elegance, complexity, and aging potential. It is considered one of the finest expressions of Pinot Noir in Burgundy. The Richebourg cuvée is produced in limited quantities, making it a rare and sought-after wine among connoisseurs worldwide.
Ah, Richebourg, that's a name we don't often hear. And for good reason, the Richebourg Grand Cru appellation area, which overlooks the Romanée and Romanée-Conti regions, represents only 8.03 hectares for an average annual production of less than 34,000 bottles.

Presentation of the 1993 vintage:
The 1993 vintage was a very good one in Burgundy, offering ideal climatic conditions for the ripening of the grapes. The 1993 Richebourg from Gros Frère et Soeur is a wine of great finesse, with complex aromas of red fruits, spices, and undergrowth. On the palate, it is powerful and concentrated, with an elegant tannic structure and a long finish. This wine is at its peak, offering a perfect balance between freshness and maturity. It can be enjoyed now, but can also be cellared for many years to continue to develop and evolve.
Food and wine pairing:
The 1993 Richebourg from Gros Frère et Soeur pairs perfectly with refined meat dishes such as beef fillet, roast duck, or game birds. It also pairs well with mature cheeses such as Époisses or Cîteaux.
Serving tips:
It's difficult to recommend this magnificent bottle. If it were up to us, we would enjoy it on its own, trying to prolong the pleasure for several hours and appreciate its evolution. Opening it an hour beforehand in large glasses seems appropriate.
