Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine: Excellence and Tradition Since 1879

Established in Pernand-Vergelesses since the late 19th century, Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine is a true family institution of the Côte de Beaune, now brilliantly managed by Christine Dubreuil. Representing the 5th generation of winemakers, she cultivates with passion and rigor a vineyard of about twenty hectares. The estate is globally renowned for the geometric precision of its winemaking and its absolute respect for the mosaic of Burgundy "climats." The aging in oak barrels here is remarkably precise, always seeking the perfect balance between the vibrant purity of the fruit, the expression of the terroir, and an exceptional aging potential.

Premier Cru "Les Vergelesses": An Exceptional Terroir at the Gates of Corton

The "Les Vergelesses" climat is historically recognized as the most emblematic, complete, and noble Premier Cru of the Savigny-lès-Beaune appellation. Ideally positioned on a steeply sloping limestone hillside, facing due east and rich in iron oxides, it shares strong geological similarities with its illustrious direct neighbor, Grand Cru Corton. This privileged geographical location gives Pinot Noir a depth of texture, a tannic structure, and an aromatic complexity far superior to the appellation's average, often described as an "iron fist in a velvet glove."

The 2019 Vintage in Burgundy: Rich, Sunny, and Memorable

The year 2019 stands among the legendary vintages of modern Burgundy. Characterized by a hot and dry summer, it produced grapes with exceptional phenolic concentration and perfect ripeness, while miraculously preserving superb acidic balances. This Savigny Premier Cru magnificently expresses this alliance: the nose is an explosion of ripe black fruits (wild blackberry, blackcurrant), enhanced by delicate touches of undergrowth, peony, and sweet spices. On the palate, the texture is fleshy, dense, and velvety, supported by ripe and fine tannins, extending into a long, saline, and profoundly mineral finish.

Bottle Condition and Traceability

  • Liquid Level: Perfect, absolutely no loss, cork completely sealed.
  • Color: Intense and brilliant ruby color, beautifully clear, no signs of premature evolution.
  • Label: Impeccable, clean, perfectly adhered to the bottle, very clear writing.
  • Capsule: Intact, airtight, original, no traces of oxidation or friction.
  • Overall Condition: A bottle in impeccable condition, a precious testament to a great vintage, stored since its acquisition in a climate-controlled underground cellar at constant temperature and humidity.

Serving Suggestions and Food Pairings

To fully appreciate the aromatic complexity of this Premier Cru, it is recommended to serve it at a temperature of 15-16°C. If possible, open the bottle one hour before serving. It will majestically accompany roasted red meats, a fine piece of Charolais beef, duck with cherries, a leg of lamb with fine herbs, or a platter of aged Burgundy cheeses (mild Époisses, Cîteaux).
